Paul O’Hara was quickly back in the winner’s circle after following up his recent Western Gailes success to share the top professional prize at West Kilbride Golf Club alongside Paul McKechnie.
In the third outing of the Ayrshire Winter Golf Association (AWGA) series, O’Hara (North Lanarkshire Leisure) finished joint leading professional as he and McKechnie (Braid Hills Golf) carded four-under-par 67s, each with front nines of 35 and back nines of three-under 32.
In the amateur competition, Haggs Castle member Thomas Thomson won the Alan Mickel Trophy with a nett 68 off an eight handicap. New AWGA member Duncan Scott showed fine form to finish second after the Nairn Golf Club member shot a nett 69, playing off 11.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly from Lenzie Golf Club’s Iain Ross who made a two at the fourth before going one better at the par three 12th with a hole-in-one.
